Captain Hood’s Fishing Report – 7-18-14
The storms have passed and we’re seeing some of the best fishing we had in a while.
In the surf and on the piers they’re catching lots of Big Pompano, some in the 2lb range. Lots of fresh shrimp, spots, night time fishing is producing big fish ,there’s also lots of Blues, Sea Mullets, and sharks.
The Sheep Head bite is great along the High Rise Bridge, the Beaufort Bridge and along the Port wall—Live Fiddler Crabs work best.
Flounder are moving in the inlets and the bite has been good in the Inlets back of Shack, the water ways along the shoals at Cape Lookout, and the Rock Jetties also on the reefs. Jigging with 2oz Spro Buck tails tipped with Shrimp.
Along the Beaches the Spanish bite should improve, the storm pushed them out, they should start showing up any day .
Off shore there are lots of Dolphin and you don’t have to go out very far Trolling with small to medium Ballyhoo on Blur Water Sea Witch Riggs are working well.
