Put Nikki Sixx on the disabled list for the moment.

The former Motley Crue bassist, now focused on his band Sixx: A.M., is recovering from hip replacement surgery earlier this month in Los Angeles. Sixx spoke about the operation on his syndicated radio show, “Sixx Sense,” acknowledging that, “There’s so much about it that I was excited about, and then there was parts of me that I was a little freaked out about…at first, when I heard that I needed that, I had that feeling, ‘Oh my God! That’s like an old person thing.’ And I started getting a lot of feedback from our listeners and people in their 30s and 40s that have had hip replacement…So it’s actually more common than not.”

Sixx said he’s recovering quickly and was up and walking the day after the surgery. He added that he wanted to take the sawed-off portion of his hip bone home “for religious reasons” but that it was “complete mush” by the time it was removed.”

Sixx: A.M. released a pair of albums, Prayers For The Blessed and Prayers For The Damned in 2016, and Sixx is currently working on a stage adaptation of his memoir The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star.
